Sudan: Microfinance Fights Poverty in Northern Kordofan

A report issued by Northern Kordofan State said that the microfinance service expands in all localities of the state, where the figures indicate that the number of beneficiaries of microfinance is 87,444 farmers, while the total of individuals benefiting from microfinance in various fields reached 10,466 persons, where the number of men are 62,679, while the number of women reached 41787.
The Northern Kordofan State had established investment and microfinance commission in October 2010, for the development of microfinance, organization and control of institutions, projects and organizations working in microfinance, sustainable delivery of service for involved sectors, to reduce unemployment and create jobs.
Higher council for microfinance was formed in Northern Kordofan under the auspices and presidency of the governor and membership of the relevant authorities.
Microfinance strategy in the state aims to introduce the active poor people in the circle of production, which leads to improvement in living conditions, and the advancement of the economy.
That interest in microfinance in Northern Kordofan have reached its peak by removing difficulties and activate its role, where the (Banks Magazine ) was invited to a meeting organized by the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS), Al-Obeid Branch, for High Council for Microfinance, chaired by the Governor of Northern Kordofan State, where the meeting concluded that the problems of microfinance there will be resolved by establishing microfinance institution , which is planned to include (50) Foundations, including foundation for graduates and other for women and a third for young people.
Finance Minister of the State expressed his pleasure as the CBOS accepted guarantee of the Ministry of Finance.
