April 28, 2010 by

Guardian News –

MANAGING Director and Chief Executive Officer of ACCION Microfinance Bank, Mrs. Bunmi Lawson, has emerged the pioneer treasurer of the newly constituted National Association of Microfinance Banks, during its inaugural general meeting held at the National Centre for Women Development, Abuja.

Lawson holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the IESE Business School, University of Nevera, also an alumnus of the Lagos Business School and also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

Prior to joining ACCION Microfinance Bank, she was the Executive Director of FATE Foundation Limited, a leading non-governmental organisation focused on encouraging entrepreneurship amongst the youth. She was also a co-owner and director of VLA, a leading human resources services organisation.

Bunmi possesses over 20 years experience in the areas of finance, insurance, marketing and auditing. She was the secretary of the transition committee of the association of microfinance banks after the harmonisation of the two unions and also had co-ordinator responsibilities in the now rested Association of Microfinance Banks in Nigeria (AMBIN).

Her victory in this position is an affirmation of her successful execution of the aforementioned roles and her determination to be part of a viable microfinance banks association. This position, like the others, will bring her extensive financial expertise strongly to bear and show her as a worthy candidate for the post.

Other winners at the election are Chief Matthias Omeh, National President; H.E. Hon. Jethro N. Akum, 1st Vice President; Barrister Jude Nosagie, second Vice President and Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed, Legal Adviser.
