Nigeria: CBN hosts 6th microfinance conference

OPERATORS would be expecting major policy directives when registered microfinance banks in the country gather at their 6th annual conference next February 7 and 8.
The conference which would also ecomapass an entrepreneurship awards is slated for the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja, Nigeria, and would be running under the theme Refocusing Microfinance for Entreprenuership Development in Nigeria”.
The CBN has been implanting reform measures in the financial services sector and may observers have been looking forward to fresh policy measures to strengthen the microfinance sector, especially given what has been happening with the deposit money banks.,
According to the CBN, the MFBs conference will feature plenary and workshop sessions on topical issues in microfinance, Entrepreneurship development in Nigeria and provide capacity building for providers and users of microfinance services.
It said this is to enhance the delivery and usage of financial services, promote economic activities, create wealth and accelerate youth empowerment in the country.
According to the apex bank, experts in various fields of microfinance and entrepreneurship development from foreign and local institutions/ agencies will facilitate at the Programme.
“In addition to the Technical Sessions, institutions and individuals who have distinguished themselves in microfinance activities, entrepreneurship growth and development will be accorded recognition and awarded prizes. Exhibition stands would also be provided at a fee for interested organizations to display their products during the event”.
